What are Gladiator Battles? Well Gladiator battles are battles that occur between two Gladiator fighters (Who can be anyone from Slaves to Patricians).The warriors could die or be wounded in the arena and lose their honor, or win to gain honor. Here is a short interview with Antonius, a gladiator who fights in these arenas.

G - Hello, my name is Antonius Tibacitus, I am a patrician who has become a gladiator.

A - So, Antonius, how many people are generally in the colosseum during fights?

G - Us Gladiators use many different weapons. But I prefer Sagitarius, with bow and arrow it allow me to hit long distance.

As you can see, gladiator fights are very popular, and many people come to watch them. The fighters also use different weapons, like the Sagitarius, Gallus, and Dimachaeri. These are all different types of gladiators, Sagitarius being more long range, Gallus being heavily armored close combat, and Dimachari being dual sworded fighting. Sometimes, Amazones (or female gladiators), fought in the Gladiator matches, though they were banned a short while after they were allowed. Gladiator fights were a great source of entertainment in Rome, and were one of the most popular things people would go to see.
