The Pax Romana, or Rome’s Golden Age, started on 27 BC, in Rome because of Augustus’s ‘perfect’ rule, which brought peace and prosperity for over 200 years.

The Pax Romana was the best age of Rome, where it was at its peak in economy, and also in peace. It started after the murder of Julius Caesar, who left his pow

er to Octavian, his nephew and adopted son. A battle started between the Second Triumvirate, which consisted of Octavian, Mark Antony (A friend of Caesar’s), and Lepidus (A close ally with Caesar). They all fought for power, each thinking they deserved it, and eventually, Octavian won. Because he won, Rome gave him the title of Augustus, and he ruled for 41 years. Augustus became a dictator, but was smart, and called himself a Princeps, which to the Romans was not a King, though in reality he was.

During the Pax Romana, Rome had many advances and Accomplishments. Augustus built an extensive amount of roads, which helped trade, facilitated aqueducts, and also helped with communication and moving troops. Also, Rome advanced in architecture, and made it much better, advancing it a lot. After Augustus died, different rulers, good and bad came. Some rulers, such as Caligula (and Nero), were insane, and abused their power immensely. Even with this, Rome prospered in the Pax Romana, and became a great country.
